Youth art on display throughout Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Businesses in Port Townsend historic districts are displaying art by local students throughout May.

More than 40 businesses, in both uptown and downtown, are displaying art and hosting donation jars; for a full list of businesses, visit www.ptmainstreet.org.

The annual Art Wave exhibit raises funds for PTArtscape programs, including the Teaching Artists programs at Salish Coast Elementary, Blue Heron School and Port Townsend High School as well as professional development for teaching artists.

PTArtscape, which began in 1998, provides visual arts for all grades in Port Townsend public schools. It facilitates The Bunker, a free teen art program hosted by Northwind Art on Friday nights at Fort Worden. It also creates art-making opportunities at local fairs for children and families.

For more information, visit www.ptartscape.com.
