WILDER: Wilder Jr.’s five-game winning streak snapped

PORT ANGELES — The Wilder Junior boys had their five-game winning streak snapped by the Mount Vernon Riverdogs 8-4, but they didn’t go down without a fight.

Wilder Jr. got down 5-1 in Saturday’s late game, but came back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh, but could only push through one run in the final frame.

Wyatt Hall went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI, while Kaleb Ripley went 2 for 3. Jacob Felton hit a double and had an RBI, while Tate Gahimer had a hit and an RBI and Tanner Lung had a hit, a walk and a run scored.

Wilder Jr. used eight pitchers in the game, who struck out eight batters and gave up seven hits and six earned runs. Timmy Adams started and took the loss, though he only gave up one run. Seth Woods, Lunt and Michael Grubb all pitched scoreless innings, with Lunt striking out three in 1 1/3 innings.

Wilder Jr. is now 12-9 (5-0 in league) on the season. The boys next host Lower Columbia AA for a Area 2 AA League doubleheader at Volunteer Park at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
