PORT ANGELES — Sequim blanked rival Port Angeles 3-0 and finished the Olympic League season dropping only one game.
The Wolves finish league a perfect 8-0 and will host the league seeding tournament Saturday.
Sequim also went through league winning every game except one.
The Wolves beat every team 3-0 except for Olympic. The Trojans, who play Port Angeles tonight for the league’s fourth seed and entry into Saturday’s seeding tournament, managed to take one game from Sequim, but fell 3-1.
“It’s kind of fun to get to the end of the regular season,” Sequim coach Jennie Webber-Heilman said.
“The girls are all excited about winning league.”
The last time Sequim won league was three years ago when league was split into 3A and 2A divisions with North Kitsap winning 3A and Sequim 2A.
The past two years the Vikings have dominated league play, but finally got knocked off the pedestal by the Wolves.
Ironically, the two top teams should be battling it out for the league’s No. 1 seed to the West Central District Tournament, which is actually the district’s No. 2 seed.
“Two leagues make up the other side of the tournament, and they get the district’s No. 1 seed because they have more teams,” Webber-Heilman said.
The Wolves (8-0 in league, 13-1 overall) open Saturday’s tourney by playing tonight’s winner between Olympic (fourth in league at 5-3, 8-6) and Port Angeles (fifth at 4-4, 5-7) at 11 a.m. at Sequim High School.
North Kitsatp (second at 7-1, 11-3) plays Klahowya (third at 6-2, 9-3) at 11 a.m. at Sequim Middle School.
The two winners will meet at the high school for the No. 1 and 2 seeds to district at 2 p.m., and the losers meet at the middle school for the No. 3 and 4 seeds at the same time.
Webber-Heilman said she is expecting to play the Vikings for that top seed at 2 p.m.
The two league powerhouses may have at least one more go at it.
Sequim’s only dual loss this year was to 4A South Kitsap in the first match of the year.
The Wolves haven’t skipped a beat since then.
Sequim ended the regular season by beating rival Port Angeles 25-14, 25-13, 25-21 Tuesday night, only working up a sweat in the final game.
“We were fired up at first,” Webber-Heilman said.
Sequim’s Haleigh Harrison dominated the net as usual, ending up with 18 kills and two blocks while also earning six digs.
Lex Besand also had a strong match with 13 digs, five kills and 15 of 16 serving with three aces.
“Lex had a couple of scoring runs for us,” Webber-Heilman said.
Setter Taylor Balkan distributed 29 assists while making 21 of 25 serves with four aces.
“Taylor scored nine points for a run in the first game that took the wind out of PA’s sails,” Webber-Heilman said.
She also had nine digs while Hannah Hudson ended up with 13 digs, 7 of 7 serving with two aces, and she also had two perfect passes.
Emma LeBlanc earned 11 digs and she had five perfect passes while Emily Wallner had a balanced match with six kills and six digs.
For Port Angeles, Kendra Harvey earned 18 digs and served 10 of 11 while Madison Hinrichs had 13 digs, four kills and 8 of 8 serving.
Holli Williams was perfect serving at 12 of 12 and also earned eight digs, four assists and a block, while Bailee Jones had two blocks, two digs, and a kill and an ace.
Win or lose tonight, the Roughriders will be playing at the district tournament. A win against Olympic propels the Riders into the seeding tourney against Sequim on Saturday at 11 a.m., and a loss against the Trojans send them to district as the league’s No. 5 seed.
Tonight’s match starts at 6:15.
The Port Angeles JV beat Sequim 2-1 by scores of 25-21, 25-9, 17-25; while the Sequim C team defeated Port Angeles 2-1 by scores of 25-23, 24-26, 18-25.

Rochester 1
ROCHESTER — The Spartans beat Rochester 23-25, 25-10, 25-15, 25-22 in SWL-Evergreen Division play Tuesday night.
Setter Jillian Raben led Forks with 27 assists, four kills and a serving ace.
Casey Williams was strong at the net with 19 kills and four blocks, and she also served two aces while Sydney Christensen had six kills, three blocks, and she had five aces.
Alissa Shaw and Karlee Hansen both had two aces and three kills each, while Shaw also had one block.
Erin Weekes earned two kills and served one ace for the Spartans.
Forks plays its final home match tonight against Elma for Senior Night.

NEAH BAY — The Loggers let down in the third game but came back roaring in the fourth to put the Red Devils away in North Olympic League action Tuesday night.
“We had a little bit of a letdown in the third game with our younger kids, but our seniors stepped on the gas in the fourth game to end it right then,” Crescent coach Alex Baker said.
The Loggers won by the scores of 25-11, 25-20, 24-26, 25-12.
Crescent, 5-0 in league and 11-2 overall, now finishes the regular season tonight against Clallam Bay at home for Senior Night.
Kellie Belford led the Loggers by going a perfect 20 for 20 in serves with two aces.
“From the libero position, Kellie made some great passes,” Baker said.
Bonny Hazelett, meanwhile, went 11 of 12 serving with a commanding seven aces, and she added five kills and four tips.
Shannon Williams had another big night by going 18 for 18 serving with four aces, four blocks, a kill and a tip.
Teya Williams had a crucial performance in the Game 4 win.
“Teya controlled the tempo in Game 4 with her setting,” Baker said.

PORT ANGELES — The Wolves advanced to the Olympic League playoffs by shocking rival Roughriders in both teams’ final regular season game.
Sequim wins in dramatic fashion by scoring two late goals after the Riders had a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The winning goal was scored with 90 seconds left.
The Riders went ahead 1-0 on Shayla Northern’s first-half goal, assisted by Brittany McBride.
Sequim rallied, though, for the two big second-half goals.
The Wolves now play in the Olympic League tournament tonight.
The Riders finish their season 5-9-1 to claim sixth place in the Olympic League.
Port Angeles coach Scott Moseley named Northern the offensive player of the game while McBride and Kylee Jeffers were named co-transition players of the game and Cami Raber received defensive player honors.

Last-chance meet
PORT ANGELES — Tracie Macias and Ashlee Reid both qualified for additional district events at the Olympic League’s last-chance Divisional Invitational meet Tuesday at William Shore Memorial Pool.
Macias qualified for her sixth individual state event in the 200-yard individual medley as she recorded a time of 2:20.60.
Reid, meanwhile, qualified for districts in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:11.06. She has qualified for districts in six individual events.
Port Angeles heads into the postseason with six athletes qualified for individual events at the West Central District III 2A meet.
These six athletes have a combined total of 27 individual district qualifying times.
Port Angeles’ team roster for individual events at districts includes Carter Juskevich (freshman), Tra Macias (senior co-captain), Lexie Pankowski (senior), Audra Perrizo (sophomore), Reid (junior), and Brooke Sires (junior co-captain).
The Roughriders also will be swimming all three relays at districts.
Athletes and relays who finish is the top 12 places in preliminaries will advance to that Saturday’s finals.
The district championships are set for Hazen High School on Nov. 2-3 with swimming preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. on Nov. 2 and swimming finals beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
