Walk to End Alzheimer’s Saturday

PORT TOWNSEND — The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s is planned at Pope Marine Park today.

As of Friday, 77 participants on 23 teams had raised $18,396 of a $25,000 goal, according to walktoendalzheimers.

Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. when participants will have an opportunity to meet with sponsors and exhibitors, learn about local resources, and grab a quick snack before the event starts.

They can also pick up and personalize their Promise Garden flower prior to the opening ceremony, which starts at 11 a.m.

Alzheimer’s disease is a leading cause of death in the United States, and more than 6 million Americans are living with the disease.

In Washington alone, there are more than 120,000 people living with the disease and 297,000 caregivers.
