Olympic Labor snaps Paint’s 19-game streak
PORT ANGELES —Olympic Labor Council snapped Paint and Carpet Barn’s 19-game winning streak with a 12-10 12U softball win Thursday.
Anna Petty was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts for OLC.
Nacia Bohman was 3 for 3 with a single, a double and a triple for OLC, while teammates Anna Brandt, Raven Taylor, and Reya Adkins were all 2 for 2 at the plate.
Paint and Carpet Barn had strong defense behind the plate from catchers Brooklyn Alton and Jada Cargo.
Lucah Folden on the mound striking out nine batters.
Folden also went 2 for 3 with a double.
Elks over Swain’s
PORT ANGELES — Elks topped Swain’s 4-1 in a well-pitched 12U Cal Ripken League baseball game that featured a combined 19 strikeouts.
Elks started the scoring in the 2nd inning when Kolten Corey led off with a single and was driven home by another sharp single from Hunter Wright.
Elks maintained the slim lead until the fourth inning when Swain’s Matt Mangano reached base on an error and later scored on Brantyn Fisler’s single to tie the contest at 1-1.
The Elks’ half of the inning began with a single from standout 9-year-old Coen Cronk and a walk to Jaeden Platt.
Swain’s appeared to be on the verge of escaping the inning with no damage when pitcher Kamron Noard struck out the next two batters but Damon Gundersen singled to load the bases and get Elks back to the top of their order.
Wyatt Hall then delivered the decisive blow with a three-run triple to left-center field which would end the scoring on the night.
Seth Woods, Connor Bear and Hall all pitched effectively, limiting Swains’ to just three hits.
Brantyn Fisler led Swains by collecting two hits and an RBI.
Jim’s cleans up
PORT ANGELES — Jim’s Pharmacy held back Tranco Transmission 16-9 in a 12U softball game Thursday.
Katrina Gregory totaled four strikeouts to earn the win on the mound for Jim’s.
Taylor Worthington singled twice and Abbie Keller brought in two RBIs with strong hitting for Jim’s.
Defensively Jim’s made a heads up double play.
Tranco saw pitching from Grace Roening and Camille Stensgard.
Stensgard had two strikeouts and added a triple at the plate.
Grace Roening and Lily Halberg both went 2 for 3 with two singles while Zoe Smithson, Emi Halberg, Emma Krepps, and Aiesha Mathis all added singles for Tranco.
Plenty of power
PORT ANGELES — PA Power topped Boulevard Wellness Center 17-13 in a 12U softball slugfest Friday.
Mady Massman at catcher and Lindsey Groff at first base had exceptional performances for PA Power.
Boulevard had stand out performances from Ella Holland at catcher and Cheyenne Zimmer at pitcher.
