WENATCHEE — The Peninsula women got five 3-pointers and 22 points from Ashlynn Sharp in beating Blue Mountain 74-53 in a Wenatchee Valley tournament game last weekend.
The women split their two games at the tournament, losing 60-43 to Wenatchee Valley on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Peninsula men lost two games at the Clackamas Tournament in Oregon. They lost to South Puget Sound 93-71 on Saturday and 82-71 to Clackamas on Friday.
In the women’s Blue Mountain win Friday, the women took control with a 27-17 second quarter, taking a 43-30 lead into the half. Sharp also had six assists and seven rebounds, while Cassandra White had 13 points and five rebounds. Sunshine Vicente had nine points, while Leilani Padilla and Kuutuuq Danner each scored eight.
In the women’s Saturday loss to Wenatchee Valley, the women were outrebounded 41-21. As a result, they only got off 43 shots to Wenatchee’s 58.
Sharp hit three 3-pointers and led the team with 10 points. Logan Luke had eight points.
The women (0-0, 7-5) play their first home game in nearly two months on Jan. 9 with a North Division league opener against Bellevue (0-0, 7-4).

OREGON CITY, Ore. — The Peninsula men dropped a pair, though they rallied against Clackamas on Friday to make it close in the second half against an 8-2 team.
Clackamas got up 42-30 at the half, but the Pirates fought back in the second half, cutting the lead to 53-48 with 10:26 left after a Nyair Cleveland layup. That was as close as the Pirates could get, though, as Clackamas responded with three 2-pointers in two minutes to open the lead back up to 62-50 with 8:19 left. Peninsula would only get as close as eight points down the rest of the way.
Samuel Kahapea and Erik Kelly led the Pirates with 18 points each. Davien Harris-Williams had 11 and Malik Moore 10.
The men also lost Saturday to a hot-shooting 11-2 South Puget Sound team that hit an astounding 20 3-pointers. Three different Clippers hit at least five 3-pointers.
Keith Seldon and Kahapea led the Pirates with 12 points each, while Kelly had 11 and Moore 10.
The Pirates (0-0, 3-10) next play at Highline (0-0, 3-6) on Wednesday.
