AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Pirate Casino Night postponed to March 1

Pirate Casino Night delayed to March 1

BLYN — Pirate Casino Night, a fundraiser for the Peninsula College athletic department, has been postponed to March 1.

The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. at 7 Cedars Casino in Blyn.

It was originally set for Feb. 15.

Tickets are $90 and are still available by contacting Athletic Development Coordinator Donald Rollman at drollman @pencol.edu.

“We didn’t want to put our fans at risk given the weather and road conditions this week,” Rollman said. “This event is so important to our athletic program, we’re hopeful those who already purchased tickets will be able to attend on March 1. We’re also hopeful that some of our regulars who weren’t able to attend Friday will be able to join us on the new date.”

PC game updates

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College men’s and women’s basketball teams have a path forward after snowy conditions caused postponement of two basketball games last week.

The Pirate men and women are planning to visit Skagit Valley today and host Olympic as scheduled on Saturday, said Rick Ross, Associate Dean for Athletics and Student Programs.

“We are planning on a make-up with Edmonds on Monday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Peninsula. We also have the make-up trip to Bellevue scheduled for March 2, also 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

OJBR date moved

PORT ANGELES — Due to extreme weather conditions the Olympic Junior Babe Ruth in-person registration event has been moved to Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 at Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St.

A board meeting at Vern Burton will follow the registration event at 6:30 p.m.
