AMERICAN LEGION: Wilder Sr. 2-2-1 at California tournament

EUREKA, Calif. — Wilder Senior has produced mixed results in a series of contests with American Legion baseball clubs from around Northern California and Oregon.

Through Friday’s games, Wilder holds a 2-2-1 record against the Golden State/Beaver State competition, 10-running the Humboldt Eagles 19U squad Wednesday before being shut out by the Eagles 6-0 Friday.

Wilder also tied 6-6 with WBS Colts Red, defeated Fort Bragg 7-0 and was shut out by Petaluma 6-0 Friday.

Against Fort Bragg, Logan Olson tossed a complete-game three-hitter, striking out six and walking one. Olson was aided at the plate by Wyatt Hall who went 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI and Connor Bear who doubled and walked and drove in a pair of runs.

Trey Baysinger also doubled home a run in the win, while Kamron Meadows added an RBI single.

Petaluma limited Wilder to three hits Friday, singles by Hall, Olson and Seth Woods. Adam Watkins took the loss on the mound, allowing four earned runs on 11 hits over five innings with three strikeouts.

Wilder couldn’t get much going against the Humboldt Eagles on Thursday with the squad only mustering singles by Landon Seibel and Bear and a pair of walks.

Kole Acker went the full five innings on the mound in Wilder’s 10-0 win over the Eagles on Wednesday, allowing three hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Landon Seibel swung a big bat for Wilder, collecting three hits including a home run, scoring twice and driving in four runs.

Trey Baysinger tripled home a run and scored and Hall, Olson, Watkins and Michael Grubb all tallied RBIs.

Watkins led the team with two RBIs in the tie game with WBS Colts Red, a Portland, Ore.-based travel squad that played in Wilder’s Firecracker Classic last weekend at Civic Field.

Felton at all-state games

Wilder Senior is without starting catcher Jacob Felton this weekend. Felton is playing for Team Baker in the four-team Washington High School All-State Baseball Series put on by the The Washington State Baseball Coaches Association in Yakima this weekend.
