P.E.O. Chapter JC to hold 16th annual Holiday Bazaar

Event to take place Saturday at Sequim Community Church

SEQUIM — Philanthropic Educational Organization Chapter JC will host its 16th annual Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Sequim Community Church, 950 N. Fifth Ave.

All proceeds from the bazaar will go to P.E.O. International’s scholarships, grants and loans for women of all levels of education throughout the United States and Canada.

“Our holiday bazaar gives community members an opportunity to shop early, find unique gifts, support a great cause and learn more about P.E.O.,” said Heather Minter, president of Chapter JC in Sequim. “So, come early and take care of everyone on your gift list.”

Cash, as well as credit cards and checks (with current ID) will be accepted.

Chapter JC began holding its Holiday Bazaar in 2008. The event has become an annual gift-shopping destination. Items for sale include home-baked goods, handmade jewelry and crafts, hand-stitched gifts, canned goods and an assortment of gently used novels, children’s books, puzzles and games.

A wine and chocolate gift basket will be raffled this year. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $1 each, and the drawing will take place at 1:50 p.m. The winner does not need to be present to win.

Chapter JC holds the Holiday Bazaar as its major fundraising activity each November to ensure funding of grants, scholarships and loans for women’s education — from undergraduate levels through Ph.D.

All proceeds from the sales will be sent to P.E.O. International to be used for that purpose.

Many Olympic Peninsula women have been recipients of these grants and scholarships.

Other holiday bazaars this weekend include:

• The Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair will be open fro 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles.

The annual event will feature a variety of local artisans, crafters and small businesses offering handmade goods, gifts, ornaments and treats.

The center’s lounge will serve food and beverages during the fair.

• The Women of St. Joseph will host an Autumn Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the parish hall at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim.

The annual event will feature handmade crafts, baked goods, basket raffles, trinkets, treasures and a community quilt raffle.

Cash or checks both will be accepted.

Proceeds will support the charitable work of the Women of St. Joseph.

• The Angelic Bazaar will open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 213 W. 11th St., Port Angeles.

The event will feature baked goods, handcrafted items, wreaths, gift baskets, soaps, jewelry, white elephants, Christmas decorations and a booth with student-made ornaments.

Lunch, including reubens, will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and free coffee will be available all day.
