Learn to row next Sunday

on Sequim Bay

SEQUIM — Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association and Sequim Bay Yacht Club are holding a learn-to-row clinic Sunday, Aug. 23, at John Wayne Marina.

The clinic offers youth and adults a chance to try the sport of rowing.

The event lasts from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Meet in the south parking lot at John Wayne Marina, located at 2577 W. Sequim Bay Road.

Forks sports dates

FORKS — Before fall sports practices begin, Forks High School is holding volleyball and cheer camps this week.

The volleyball camp is Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Spartan gym.

The cheer camp is Wednesday in the multipurpose gym from

8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Football practices begin Wednesday. The night before, Tuesday at 5 p.m., there will be football gear registration.

The Blue-Gold scrimmage will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, at

6 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 25, there is a mandatory all-sports parent and student meeting at 6 p.m. in the Forks High School commons.

Free strider rides

PORT ANGELES — Free strider bike riding will be held at the Port Angeles BMX Track during the Clallam County Fair on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be an official Warnicke Scholarship race Thursday. Sign-ups are from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and racing starts soon after.

Free one-day memberships available with a $5 donation to the scholarship race. It is a $10 fee for USABMX current members.

The event is free to all spectators.

Port Angeles BMX Track is located near the fairgrounds at the corner of Lauridsen Blvd. and L Street.

BMX camp

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles BMX will host a Brother’s BMX camp Tuesday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 27.

The camp runs from noon to

3 p.m. each day. It is geared toward all ages and for striders and bikes.

The cost is $125 for all three days or $50 per day.
