CHIMACUM — The East Jefferson girls basketball team bounced back from a three-game losing streak with a 43-32 win over Seattle Christian.
Monday’s victory maintains a winning record in the Nisqually League (8-6) for the Rivals and guarantees at least a fourth-place finish and league record of .500 or better.
Dylin Shockley led the Rivals with 13 points, shooting 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. Kay Botkin had 12 points and Penina Vailolo scored nine. Five other players chipped in nine points.
East Jefferson (8-10 overall) played Tuesday in a game against Vashon (5-9, 6-11) after press deadline. If the Rivals win that game, it will guarantee a winning season in the Nisqually League and a possible shot at third place.
The Rivals wrap up regular season play at 7 p.m. Thursday in Port Townsend versus Annie Wright (13-1, 15-4). The District 3 1A tournament begins Monday.

Muckleshoot 47, Crescent 45
AUBURN — The Crescent girls basketball team had a heartbreaking end to its season, but the Loggers can hold their heads high that they had one of the most successful seasons in recent history.
Crescent lost a loser-out play-in game 47-45 to Muckleshoot on Monday.
Coach Brian Shimko said the Loggers “had all the opportunities to win that game,” with a 45-40 lead with 1:26 left to play.
Muckleshoot rallied in the final 86 seconds, getting the winning margin on a pair of free throws. Crescent got a shot off at the buzzer, but it went off the rim.
Shimko said the Loggers missed 15 free throws and 12 lay-ups and that was the difference.
Crescent finished its season with a record of 13-7, coming roaring back from some rough seasons a few years ago in which the Loggers only won a couple of games.
“And we did that with six players,” Shimko said. He said the Loggers return four players next year and have some eighth-graders coming up to hopefully have a deeper bench next year. Shimko plans to coach the team again next season.
Naomii Sprague had a great game with 17 points and used her speed to snag 14 steals. Ciara Cargo-Acosta had 13 points.
Shimko said Sprague finished the season with more than 100 steals and is among the leaders in 1B. Cargo-Acosta made 37 3-pointers, which is also among the leaders in 1B.
The Crescent boys, at 17-3, are still alive in the postseason.
