FORKS — Four Neah Bay players scored in double figures to lead the Red Devils to a 66-36 win over Forks in nonleague boys basketball action.
Jongi Claplanhoo paced Neah Bay with 18 points, Abraham Venske scored 12 and Christopher Martinez and Ryan Moss had 11 apiece.
The Red Devils defense held Forks’ leading scorer Leo Gonzales to four points.
Colton Raben led the Spartans with 13 points.
“It seemed that a lot of times we were forcing bad shots instead of letting it come to us,” Forks coach Rick Gooding said after Wednesday’s game.
“We need to get to where everyone is comfortable with the basketball in their hands.”
The Spartans, coming off a big win over Elma on the night before, hung with the Red Devils in the first half, trailing 25-21 at the intermission.
Neah Bay then outscored Forks 26-6 in the third quarter to put the game away.
“We came out with absolutely no energy out of halftime,” Gooding said.
“I don’t know if we were tired from playing a long, hard, competitive game [Tuesday], and then playing a pretty fast-paced first half, and the halftime break wore us down.
“Maybe I need to take a look at what I’m doing at halftime to get us more motivated to play better basketball.”
Austin Pegram added five points for the Spartans, while Parker Browning and Ollie Sampson added four each.
Forks (1-2, 2-4) travels to play Evergreen League rival Hoquiam (1-0, 1-4) tonight.
For Neah Bay, Ezekiel Greene scored added nine points.
The Red Devils (1-1) play at Mary M. Knight on Saturday.
Port Angeles 85, North Kitsap 80
PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders continued to establish themselves as a force in the Olympic League by beating the Vikings at Port Angeles High School.
Senior guard Hayden Gunderson led Port Angeles with 20 points, and Hunter Hathaway had 17.
Beyond those two, it was a balanced offensive attack for the Riders. Derek Schumacher had 11, defensive stopper Tristan Isett added nine and Logan Ciaciuch and Steven Lauderbeck scored seven each.
Hathaway also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and had three steals, which tied with Ciaciuch and Lauderbeck for the team lead.
Schumacher blocked seven shots and Brady Konopaski and Lambros Rogers dished out five assists apiece.
Port Angeles (4-1, 5-2), tied with Sequim for second place in the league standings, plays at undefeated Bremerton (4-0, 5-0) tonight.

SEQUIM — The Wolves held the Bulldogs scoreless in the first quarter and held on from there to notch their third Olympic League victory of the season.
Alex Barry continued his hot start to the season with 22 points and 13 rebounds, including seven offensive.
Vance Willis contributed 11 points and seven boards, and Rory Kallappa scored 10.
Sequim dominated the glass, with Josh McConnaughey pulled down eight rebounds, Eric Christensen grabbing eight and Anthony Pinza finishing with seven.
Pinza also had five assists and three steals.
The Wolves (3-1, 4-1) play at Klahowya (0-3, 1-5) today.

PORT TOWNSEND — Cody Russell went off for 20 points to lead the Redskins to their second straight Olympic League win.
Port Townsend had three other players reach double figures: Paul Spaltenstein had 19, Jacob King scored 14 and Sean Dwyer contributed 14.
The Redskins (1-3) play at North Kitsap (2-2, 3-3) tonight.
