Hoops sessions with Chris Hyppa at PC gymnasium

PORT ANGELES — Basketball coach Chis Hyppa will offer two Sunday Skill Sessions at Peninsula College on Sunday, April 9.

The first session is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade and will run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The second session for sixth through 12th graders will follow from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The sessions will work on skill development, footwoork, basketball IQ enhancement and moving without the ball in a competitive atmosphere.

Senior softball in PA

PORT ANGELES — An organizational meeting for those interested in playing on the Port Angeles Senior Coed slowpitch softball team will be held Thursday.

The meeting is set for the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St., at 10 a.m.

Women must be age 45 years old or older, and men must be 50 or older. All skill levels are welcome.

Practice at Elks Field, off South Pine Street between W. 13th and W. 14th streets, will begin when the field dries out.

They will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m.

Klahhane fundraiser

PORT ANGELES — Klahhane Gymnastics will hold a McTakeover of the Port Angeles McDonalds 0from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12.

The nonprofit gymnastics program will receive a portion of all sales during that time to support equipment purchase and maintenance.

Swim team market

SEQUIM — The Sequim High School girls swim team will hold a Spring Market at the school cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave., on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23.

The market will offer vintage items, farmhouse, decorations, jewelry, LuLaRoe clothing, art, candles, plants, homemade gifts and raffles.

Admission is free, but the team will collect nonperishable food items for donation to the Sequim Food Bank.

Rowers compete

LAKE STEVENS — Olympic Peninsula Rowing Club members braved wet and cold conditions at the club’s first tri-meet scrimmage on Lake Stevens.

The athletes competed in both novice and varsity events, with a couple rowers racing for the first time.

A few highlights were Nathan Mishler and Daniel Weaver in the Varsity Boys 2x coming in a close second, Claire Tyson, Veronica Kennedy coming in third in the the Novice Girls 2x and the Varsity Boys 4x (Weaver, Mishler, Tyler Turner, andCyrus Mills) with two novice, first-year rowers racing competitively in a heavy boat.

“I heard very little complaining and they all stepped up and raced every lineup, giving all rowers a chance to compete,” said coach Deb Swinford.

Club members will compete in upcoming regattas at Lake Stevens, Eugene, Ore., and at regionals in Vancouver, Wash.

Propane system clinic

SEQUIM — A North Olympic Sail and Power Squadron boating clinich will cover propane systems and safety.

The clinic is 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, April 8, at Sunland Golf Course &Country Club, 135 Fairway Drive.

Presenter Gordon Bilyard will instruct attendees on properties of propane, components of propane systems on boats, system operations and maintenance and safety.
