Haunted Underground Tour gets underway Thursday

PORT ANGELES — Starting Thursday, stories of ghosts lurking in underground Port Angeles will come to light.

The Port Angeles Heritage Tours will launch its seasonal Haunted Underground Tour on Thursday. It will continue through Oct. 28.

Tours will be at 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays; 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; and 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturdays.

A haunted tour will cost $19 for adults and $17 for seniors and students. Participants must be at least 13 years old, and youths younger than 16 require parental accompaniment.

Tour staff recommends reservations. Walk-ins can join only on a first-come, first-served basis at the Port Angeles Visitors Center in the 10 minutes before the tour.

All tours depart from the visitors center, 121 E. Railroad Ave.

The tour will begin with the history of the city and the tactics used to raise the city streets in 1914.

Then, the tour party will traverse down flights of stairs to explore an underground network of passageways and empty basements.
