Girls Night Out set for Thursday

PORT TOWNSEND — Some 32 downtown Port Townsend businesses will offer raffles, special drawings, snacks and free samples during Girls Night Out on Thursday.

Participating stores will stay open late, serving customers from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the 17th annual Girls’ Night Out.

“Reach for the Stars” is the theme of the evening, according to Port Townsend Main Street, the evening’s organizer.

Examples of the store specials to be offered are a free mini-bottle of balsamic vinegar from Lively Olive Tasting Bar, homemade Turkish baklava at Shirvan Rug Gallery and men in kilts at Wandering Angus.

The evening will end with a wrap-up party at 8 p.m. at the Cotton Building, 607 Water St. Admission of $10 will include refreshments.

Goodie bags will be available Thursday at the Cotton Building for $25 each while supplies last.

The bags include socks, scarves and treats. Among the donors to the goodie bags are The Clothes Horse, About Time Clothing, Expressions, Tickled Pink Retail, Elevated Ice Cream & Candy Co., Aldrich’s Market, 1851 and World’s End. The goodie bags are popular and sold out last year, Port Townsend Main Street said in a press release.

Proceeds from Girls’ Night Out goodie bags sales benefit the Port Townsend Main Street Program, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and Jefferson Healthcare Foundation to help provide breast and cervical cancer screenings, care and treatment for low-income Jefferson County residents.

Door prizes and raffle winners will be named at the wrap-up party.

The Girls’ Night Out Raffle prizes will feature gift certificates, gifts and experiences with multiple baskets valued at more than $500 each. Raffle proceeds benefit the Port Townsend Main Street Program.

Raffle tickets, which will cost $10 each, will be sold at the Cotton Building during the event.
