CHIMACUM — Lynden Christian ended Chimacum’s softball season with a 7-2 win at the 1A tri-district tournament.

Lynden Christian scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to win the loser-out game at Chimacum High School on Wednesday.

“It was a disappointing loss, but the girls never gave up,” Chimacum coach Lauralee Kiesel said.

Mistakes cost the Cowboys as they had six errors in the game, most of them coming in the crucial seventh.

The Cowboys went ahead 1-0 in the fifth inning but Lynden Christian tied it in the top of the sixth.

Lynden Christian put the game out of reach with the six runs in the seventh.

Chimacum had seven hits in the game but couldn’t string them together.

“We couldn’t get enough consecutive hits,” Kiesel said.

The Cowboys earned a double play that went from Snyder at shortstop to Hathaway at first base, and then from Hathaway to home where Cossell made the tag for the second out.
