Chimacum to honor former coach Clarke

CHIMACUM — Former Chimacum High School basketball coach at teacher Mike Clarke will be honored at halftime of the Chimacum boys varsity game against rival Port Townsend on Monday.

Chimacum’s Big Blue Boosters will present a defibrillator for the school’s gym as well as a plaque that honors Clarke, who died June 12, 2012.

Clarke coached and taught at Chimacum from 1964 to 1992.

He retired and returned to coaching on a few occasions, before retiring for good in 1997 after a four-year stint with the girls basketball team.

The Big Blue Boosters are inviting former players and students of Clarke to attend.

The Chimacum-Port Townsend boys game starts at 5:15 p.m. The girls tip off at 7 p.m.
