PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders dropped their Olympic League opener to a tough Vikings squad.

“Our first league match was against one of the strongest teams in our league,” Port Angeles coach Stephanie Gochnour said of Wednesday’s match.

“We hope after our first match jitters, we can learn from our matches today and be ready to face them again later this season.

“I was proud our girls. We are a young team: 21 girls out of our roster of 34 players have only practiced for 12 days.”
