Fastpitch softball skills clinic slated

PORT ANGELES — A free softball skills clinic for girls ages 7-16 will be held at the Lincoln Park fields from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The fundamentals of fastpitch softball will be taught, including fielding, hitting and pitching.

Players should bring cleats, a bat and a glove.

This clinic will be conducted by coaches and Port Angeles softball alumni with many years of playing and coaching experience.

Sequim hoops camp

SEQUIM — Sequim Youth Basketball will host a camp for boys and girls Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 14-15 at Sequim High School.

The registration fee is $50.

Parents and guardians can fill out player registrations and medical waivers on site.

Kids in grades one through four will camp from 9 a.m. to noon.

Those in grades five through eight will go from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Players should bring a basketball, water bottle and court shoes.

Youth football sign ups

CHIMACUM — Chimacum youth football registration and gear pick up will be held at H.J. Carroll Park, 9884 Rhody Drive, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Registration, fees and a refundable gear deposit will be collected.

Dick Brown tourney

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Youth Baseball and Port Angeles Parks and Recreation are hosting the 20th annual Dick Brown Memorial Tournament this weekend at the Lincoln Park Complex.

The tournament is sponsored by Clallam County YMCA

Admission is free.

Port Angeles’ 9-year-old entry starts off the tournament Saturday morning at 9 a.m. on field 7 against Radiator Whiskey from Seattle. Port Angeles also has a 10U team in the division, and they start off with the Puyallup All-Stars at 11 a.m. on field 7. Other 9/10 teams are from Federal Way, Edmonds, Hoquiam and West Seattle.

The PA 11’s take on Edmonds Baseball Association on field 3 at 9 a.m.. The other 11U teams are Pacific Baseball Club from Seattle and Stilly Venom Baseball from Arlington.

Port Angeles 12’s play at 9:15 on Field 1 against the Lacey Lefties, coached by Port Angeles Lefties owner Matt Acker. The other 12 year old teams are South Kitsap, Buzz Baseball from Federal Way, Auburn Bulldogs, Redmond Rebels, and the Bellingham Bees .
