Sequim Mat Rats wrestling sign-ups open
SEQUIM — Sign-ups are open for the Sequim Mat Rats youth wrestling program for boys and girls in first through sixth grades.
Wrestling will be held in the Sequim Community School gym, 221 W. Fir St., every Tuesday and Thursday from March 3-26.
Participants will be broken into groups based on age level and taught the basics of wrestling.
Cost is $35 for one child or $50 for two or more, with cash or check accepted.
Checks should be made out to Sequim High School Wrestling.
A registration form, the fee and a concussion information sheet must be signed and handed in at the beginning of the first session.
Children should wear shorts or sweatpants and a T-shirt. Wrestling shoes are optional.

Recruiting talk
PORT ANGELES — Former high school and college coach and athletic director Jack Renkens will present “The True Facts about College Athletic Recruiting” at the Port Angeles High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. Monday, March 2.
The talk is free and open to the public.
Renkens has helped families around the country find college athletic scholarships for their children.
Renkens will discuss myths and truths surrounding the process and offer helpful advice during a 50-minute presentation.

Swimmers race
PORT ANGELES — More than 200 hundred swimmers from across Western Washington competed in a February challenge meet hosted by the Port Angeles Swim Club at William Shore Memorial Pool.
Port Angeles Swim Club members won numerous events.
Taylor Beebe, 14, was first in the 100-yard individual medley, second in the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 50 free. She also finished third in the 200 back.
Nadia Cole, 12, was first in the 100 breast, 100 individual medley, 200 free and 50 breast.
She placed second in the 50 free, 100 free and 50 butterfly, and was third in the 100 butterfly.
Kenzie Johnson, 13, broke the club’s 13-14 age group record in the 200 individual medley, winning the event in 2 minutes, 20.83 seconds.
She was second in the 200 butterfly, 400 individual medley and third in the 100 free.
Carter Juskevich, 17, was first in the 50 and 100 breast as well as the 100, 200 and 500 free.
She came in second in the 50 free.
Jaine Macias, 15, placed first in the 100 butterfly and 200 breast.
Kelly Mcintosh-Ryan, 15, won the 200 back and finished third in the 50 free.
Cameron Butler, 13, placed third in the 200 individual medley, 100 and 200 free.
Alex Che, 9, came in third in the 100 back, 100 individual medley and 50 free.
Felicia Che, 13, took second in the 100 individual medley.
Rachel Cooper, 10, was third in the 50 and 100 breast.
Mackenzie DuBois, 10, finished first in the 50 butterfly, second in the 100 breast, and the 50, 100 and 500 free.
She took third place in both 200 individual medley and 50 backstroke.
Yau Fu, 8, won the 25 butterfly.
Josh Gavin, 11, came in third in the 50 and 100 butterfly.
Sierra Hunter, 13, was third in the 50 back and 100 individual medley.
Adriana McClain, 11, ended up third in the 200 breast.
Bella Money, 12, was third in the 500 free and 50 breast.
Emma Murray, 12, finished second in the 200 butterfly.
Emilee Reid, 10, earned second in the 50 back and third in the 50 and 200 freestyle.
Autumn Sheldon, 15, placed second in the 500 free, third in the 100 and 200 butterfly and the 200 free.
Finn Thompson, 8, placed second in the 25 back and third in the 25 butterfly.
Adam Weller, 10, was second in the 100 breast and 100 individual medley, and third in the 100 and 200 free.
