PREP SPORTS: Gymnasts tumble past Kingston

POULSBO — A combined group of Port Angeles, Sequim and Crescent gymnasts scored big in a 144.1-96.85 gymnastics meet victory over Kingston on Friday at Breidablik Elementary School.

“We actually received the highest first meet team score that we have ever had in the seven years that I have been coaching,” Roughriders coach Jackie Mangano said. “We have a lot of girls with a ton of potential and skill this season.”

Sharp on point

Sequim’s Gracie Sharp was the leader in the all around, totaling 29.8 points to edge Port Angeles’ Aiesha LaTourette for first by .2 of a point.

Sharp won on the balance beam with a score of 8.8, finished second behind LaTourette on the uneven bars (6.0), was second in the floor exercise (8.2) and tied for third with LaTourette in the vault with scores of 7.8.

LaTourette claimed the uneven bars (6.1), was second on the beam (7.6), third in the floor exercise (8.1) and third on the vault (7.8).

Emma Sharp was third for Sequim with 29.2 points. She won the vault (8.1), was second in the floor exercise (8.2), third on the beam (7.3) and fourth on the bars with a score of 5.6.

Sequim’s Lesae Pfeffer won the floor with a score of 8.4 and placed second in the vault with an 8.0. She ended up fourth in the all around with 26.6 points.

The squad will compete in the Sehome Invitational on Jan. 4.
