NORTH OLYMPIC PENINSULA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL — Klahowya spoils Port Angeles’ homecoming; other prep football results

PORT ANGELES — The Klahowya passing tandem of Jacob Sheets and Josh Ganowski hooked up on three touchdown passes as the Eagles picked up 19-8 road win to ruin Port Angeles High School’s homecoming celebration.

Sheets tossed touchdown passes of 45, 31 and 13 yards to Ganowski.

After the third scoring strike with 4:30 remaining in the game, the Roughriders (0-3, 0-5) put on a passing display of their own in an effort to pull off an improbable comeback.

Larsson Chapman completed three passes to Jonathan Newlin during a drive that covered 77 yards in just under three minutes.

Riders running back Nathan Angevine capped the drive with a three yard touchdown run with 1:34 left. Wesley Gidding ran in the two-point conversion to cut Klahowya’s lead to 19-8.

But the rally was halted on the ensuing kickoff when the Eagles (1-2, 3-2) recovered Port Angeles’ onside kick attempt, and then ran out the clock.
