END OF THIRD QUARTER UPDATE — STATE BASKETBALL: Port Angeles girls up by 12; Neah Bay boys down by 10

YAKIMA — The Port Angeles girls continue to hold back Lynden and lead 41-29 after three quarters.

The Roughriders closed out the third with a pick and roll play from Krista Johnson to Nizhoni Wheeler followed by a steal and breakaway layup by Johnson.

The Neah Bay boys fell further behind Tulalip in the 1B state tournament at Spokane Arena and trail 51-41 going into the final period.

YAKIMA — The Port Angeles girls lead Lynden 26-13 at halftime.

The Lions closed the gap with a 6-0 run before the intermission.

Bailee Jones has seven points and six rebounds for the Roughriders. Port Angeles has outrebounded Lynden 22-14.

In the 1B boys state tournament in Spokane, Tulalip Heritage’s 3-point shooting has given the Hawks a 36-30 halftime lead over Neah Bay at Spokane Arena.

Ryan Moss leads the Red Devils with 11 points and Abraham Venske has nine.

Port Angeles freshman Elyse Brown qualified for state in the floor, vault and the bars. She placed fourth all-around at district. Joining her will be fellow freshman Emily Bair from Sequim.
