JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The North Olympic 13U baseball team got off to a rough start at the Babe Ruth World 13YO World Series, falling 13-0 to a team from Tallahassee, Fla., in its opener Sunday.

Tallahassee pitchers fired a five-inning one-hitter at North Olympic. Noah Kiser had North Olympic’s lone hit. He also had a stolen base.

Tallahassee scored eight of its runs in the second inning as North Olympic’s pitchers allowed 10 hits and seven walks. Carson Greenstreet did pitch well, allowing no runs and three hits in two innings pitched.

North Olympic (0-1) gets the chance to bounce back at 10:30 a.m. today with a game against Broomall-Newtown of Pennsylvania, which lost its opening game 10-3 to Stamford, Conn. North Olympic also plays an Australian 13U team at 4 p.m. Tuesday and at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday against Stamford. All times are Pacific time.

There are five teams in North Olympic’s National Division pool and the top three move on to the elimination round which begins Thursday.

In the American Division pool are teams from Stevens Point, Wis.; Centennial, Colo; Eagle Pass, Texas; Price, Utah and host Jamestown.

North Olympic earned the trip to Jamestown by winning the Pacific Northwest championship in late July in Meridian, Idaho, 10-8 over the Belgrade (Mont.) Bandits. North Olympic (12-7) came in to the Babe Ruth 13YO World Series on an eight-game winning streak.
