AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Sports trivia night to raise funds for scholarships

C Green Future Riders 5-0

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles High School Football Boosters, along with event sponsors 7 Cedars, Sergio’s Hacienda and Brix Marine, are hosting the second annual Sports Trivia Night to raise money for football senior scholarships.

The event will be held on Sunday at the Naval Elks Lodge, located at 131 E. First St. Registration opens at 5 p.m. and sports trivia begins at 6 p.m.

This event welcomes everyone to compete in the world of sports-themed trivia to win cash and other prizes. People can also enjoy appetizers prepared by Elks members while browsing the array of donated items from the community, including spa packages, restaurant gift cards and even a snowboard.

Teams should be no more than six players. If people do not have a full team, the boosters club will be happy to pair them with other participants. The entry fee is $20 per participant. Cash and other prizes will be awarded to the top teams.

“This amazing group of young men have been playing football together for many years,” said Stacy Flores, football booster president. “It’s more than football, it’s a family. Whatever the path these young men follow after high school, they will all do amazing things. They are kind, compassionate, amazing students and athletes. They are leaders on and off the field. Having this scholarship fund is so important to these young men; it gives them the opportunity to further their education and build their futures.”

All proceeds raised at this event will fund scholarships for graduating football players attending colleges or trade school. People can meet Port Angeles High School football seniors and enjoy season highlights, as well as a special trip down memory lane.

If people have questions, they can call Laura Havens at 360-460-0217.
