AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Port Angeles’ Natalie Johnson wins first place at state wrestling meet

TACOMA — Port Angeles’ Natalie Johnson on Sunday won the championship in her division at the Washington State Wrestling Association Folkstyle Wrestling tournament held at the Tacoma Dome.

This is a tournament for youth private clubs, separate from the Mat Classic wrestling tourney.

Johnson competed in the 106-pound 9-12 grade division, winning with two pins and a major decision in three matches. She won her state championship the day after she finished eighth at the Mat Classic in the girls’ 100-pound division.
