AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Crescent’s hoops teams end successful seasons; Forks all-leaguers named

KIRKLAND — The Crescent boys basketball team’s season ended this weekend in a tri-district tournament opener, losing against a good Puget Sound Adventist team 64-30.

“[We] came up against just a better team with more size, speed and experience,” said coach Chris Ferrier. “My guys played their guts out. The desire was there. Conner Ferro-May really was a revelation all season and he again led us in scoring and rebounding.”

Ferro-May had 18 points in the game. The Loggers, who finish the season 11-7, were a No. 11 seed in the tri-district tournament. Puget Sound Adventist is a No. 6 seed. Crescent sent both its boys and girls basketball teams to the postseason for the first time in 20 years. The girls also lost their playoff opener and finish their season 11-6.

“It was a good season for us. We say goodbye to three great seniors — Austin Sage Brayden Emery and Hayden Ferrel. I salute them for their dedication, sweat, and commitment to getting better every day,” Ferrier said. “We bring back a good chunk of guys for next season. Already planning how to get better for [20]22-23.”

Forks basketball all-league selections

FORKS — The Forks basketball teams put four boys and girls on the Pacific 2B League first teams.

Logan Olson and Riley Pursley made the first team for the boys, while Keira Johnson and Kadie Wood did the same for the girls.

Making the honorable mention teams were Keaton Northcut for the boys and Kyra Neel for the girls.

Making the all-academic teams were Ryan Rancourt, Pursley, Brody Lausche and Brandon Galeana for the boys and Neel, Johnson, Wood, Casadie Whorton and Katelynn Wallerstedt for the girls.

The boys coach of the year was Bob Enos of league champion Ilwaco, while the girls coach of the year was Jason Koski of Raymond and Jarrod Plummer of Chief Leschi.

The league’s sportsmanship awards went to the South Bend boys and the South Bend girls.
