Women’s club champs crowned at The Cedars

SEQUIM — Jane Peoples played well through some of the hottest weather of the year through two days of play to claim The Cedars at Dungeness Women’s Golf Association’s club championship with a low gross score of 166 strokes over 36 holes.

Barbara Burrow was the low gross winner in the second flight at 199.

Jodi Stone earned the First Flight’s low net championship, shooting a net 139 over 36 holes to edge Marine Hirschfeld (142) and Kathleen McCarthy and Linda Hash at 150.

Ann Rosecrants was the low net champion of the second flight at 144, followed by Kathy Langston at 149.

Crowning champions doesn’t mean the group’s weekly competitions have ended.

The group will hold its summer social, which includes a putt-putt golf course, the annual Days of Whine and Roses golf tournament, for which women come from all over the Puget Sound area to participate in one of the best tournaments on the Peninsula, an end-of-season luncheon and a Christmas get together.

At the last business meeting, the women complete an annual tradition: deciding which charities to donate profits from throughout the year.
