PORT ANGELES — Jeffrey L. Anderson, 59, pleaded guilty to third-degree malicious mischief May 10 for intentionally setting a fire on a stove at his landlord’s Port Angeles residence March 5.
Third-degree malicious mischief is a gross misdemeanor, and is not the felony erroneously reported in Friday’s editions on Page A5.
Anderson was sentenced to 365 days in jail with 300 days suspended for time served, plus 12 months probation, according to court documents.
A restitution hearing is set for June 17 in Clallam County Superior Court.
Anderson was renting out the bottom floor of his landlord’s residence when fire broke out upstairs. Damage was limited to a stove.
Anderson originally was charged with first-degree arson. He accepted a plea offer to the lesser charge of malicious mischief from Clallam County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ann Lundwall in exchange for the guilty plea.
