Jefferson commissioners approve bid for Teal Lake Road project

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County commissioners approved a bid from Lakeside Industries for the Teal Lake Road overlay project in Port Ludlow.

The three commissioners unanimously approved the bid of $163,321.62 from the Port Angeles-based contractor as part of their consent agenda during Monday’s meeting.

The project will be funded entirely out of the county road fund, and with the budget and bid approved, Jefferson County Public Works Director Monte Reinders said they’re just waiting for the weather to clear up in order to start it.

According to Reinders, the project is a resurfacing of Teal Lake Road from the intersection with Paradise Bay Road to the intersection with Woodridge Road just over a half mile away.

“I expect it’ll be done in late May depending on the weather and if the contractor is available,” Reinders said.

“They seem eager to get started as soon as we have good weather.”

Reinders said he expects the majority of the project could be completed in roughly a week, but there will be traffic delays because they are resurfacing the road.

“There will be some traffic delays for sure, but the bulk of the work should take no more than a week,” Reinders said.

“It’a thin asphalt overlay, so about 2 inches thick. It should be a nice product.”

The county put out a call for bids April 3 and the sealed bids were opened April 24.

The Public Works Department recommended the county take the bid from Lakeside Industries, which was the lowest bid submitted.
