Theater group bringing comic farce to Port Ludlow

PORT LUDLOW — It’s 1942, and two of Hollywood’s biggest divas have descended upon the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel — assistants, luggage and legendary feud with one another in tow. Everything seems to be in order for their wartime performance … that is, until they are somehow assigned to the same suite.

Mistaken identities, overblown egos, double entendres and a lap dog named Mr. Boodles round out the love note to the classic farces of the 1930s and ’40s.

The Ludlow Village Players will bring this comic farce, “Suite Surrender,” to the Bay Club this weekend and next in Port Ludlow.

Performances are scheduled for 7 tonight and Saturday night and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Place.

More shows are slated for next weekend, April 20-22.

Tickets are $17, on sale now at the Bay Club and https://www.brownpaper tickets.com/.

Each ticket entitles the owner to a chance of winning a basket of wine and chocolates.

In “Suite Surrender,” the Palm Beach Royale Hotel is hosting an important USO event to benefit the troops.

The headliners are two of Hollywood’s biggest and scariest divas, notorious for their overblown egos and loathing of one another — Claudia McFadden, America’s singing sweetheart, and Athena Sinclair, star of stage and screen.

These two queens of mean are mistakenly booked into the same suite, prompting the remaining cast of characters to create all manner of madness and mayhem in trying to keep them apart.

Split-timing action with a little music and romance ends in an unexpected twist.

Vicki Valley and Becky Eastgard are the demon divas, with Gil Skinner, Wynne Stevens, Paul Moreau, Jeffrey Groves, Nicole Frenzl, Ginny Ford and Diane Peterson rounding out the cast.

Ludlow Village Players is a nonprofit, all-volunteer performing arts association dedicated to providing live theater to the community.

In 2007, Port Ludlow Players merged with Port Ludlow Little Theater to become the Ludlow Village Players. Val Durling has served as artistic director since the reorganization.
