Quilt exhibit, Art Blast! tonight at library

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Library will celebrate a new Art in the Library exhibit at 7 tonight with a quarterly Art Blast! event.

Musician Kalan Wolfe will perform, bringing his “Driven Medicine Music” into the heart of the library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the public is invited to come early to check out the new art on display throughout the building and mingle with featured artists.

Refreshments will be served and limited library services will be available during this free after-hours event.

According to a news release, Kalan Wolfe is a singer-song writer who grew up in Sequim and now lives in Quilcene.

His unique style, described as “Driven Medicine Music,” is gaining momentum as he continues to expand his audience here on the Olympic Peninsula and abroad.

Wolfe grew up surrounded by the music of his parents and grandparents his whole life.

Most of his original work is inspired by his family and spiritual community.

While on stage, he is accompanied by his father, Karl Hatton, on Cajon drum and backup vocals.

More and more regularly, he also is accompanied by his sister, Olivia Hatton.

The opening reception for the new Art in the Library exhibit will be held at 6:30 p.m.

The public is invited to meet the featured artists, enjoy refreshments, and view the “Fall Into Winter Warmth” themed exhibit, featuring a variety of local quilt artists.

This exhibit will be on display at the Port Angeles Library tonight through Jan. 22.
