Port Townsend School of Arts faculty to talk about work during Gallery Walk

PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend School of the Arts Downtown artist-teachers will join Gallery Walk from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday to talk about their work and the classes they offer at 236 Taylor St.

The school will feature a series of demonstrations by artist-faculty, showcasing a variety of approaches to the art making process.

Demonstration times and days will be posted on the Port Townsend School of the Arts (PTSA)’s website at ptarts.org and Facebook page.

January’s Gallery Walk will exhibit faculty art with small originals by Darsie Beck, Mike Biskup, Maria Coryell-Martin, Nonie Gaines, Marcy Gordon, Meg Kaczyk, Melissa Klein, Glo Lamson, Shirley Mercer, Rick Meyers, Linda Okazaki, Mary O’Shaughnessy, Julie Read, Anne Schneider, Kerry Tremain, Dana Weir, Lindsey Wayland, Diane Wheatley, Rebecca Wild and Chris Witkowski.

PTSA Downtown also will feature faculty prints, books, cards and merchandise.

Artists who will be on location throughout the month include acrylic painter Julie Read, expeditionary artist Maria Coryell-Martin, maritime drawer and painter Rick Myers, figurative artist Kelly Drake and others.

To encourage art-making in the new year, PTSA is extending its end-of- the-year discount promotion.

During Gallery Walk, visitors can pick up coupons for 10 percent off any one class or workshop in 2019, redeemable if registered by the end of January.

PTSA is a nonprofit education organization located at Fort Worden dedicated to bringing out the artist in everyone, the school says.

The curriculum range is designed to provide support for serious artists deepening their practice, new skills and experiences for creative explorers, and innovative hands-on art-making for children and teens, PTSA said.

• Port Townsend Gallery at 715 Water St.,will feature its member artists during its All- Gallery Show during Gallery Walk.

Many works will be exhibited, including those in oils, watercolors, ceramics, woodworking, photography, acrylics, collages, jewelry and weaving.

The Port Townsend Gallery is a fine arts cooperative gallery featuring many of the best artists in the area.

During Gallery Walk, artists will be available to talk about their work and the stories behind them.
