Yee haw! Enter our County Fair Photo Contest!

THERE WAS SO much to see at both North Olympic Peninsula county fairs this month, so the possibilities you have with our online County Fair Photo Contest are virtually endless.

Here’s your chance to share your photos of spectacular fun, great exhibits, entertaining shows, high-action carnival, cute animals — or whatever your camera has captured at the Jefferson County Fair and/or the Clallam County Fair — and be in the running for three prizes in the process.

The three winning photos (determined by online voting that starts Sunday) will earn prizes from Fine Art Photography by Ernst, First Federal, Dr. Richard E. Davies, DDS, and 7 Cedars Casino.

Winners will be announced Sept. 4.

Entering is easy: Go to http://pdn.upickem.net/engine/Welcome.aspx?contestid=139006 .

If you’re not already registered, you’ll need to click on “Register Now,” follow the simple steps and post your photo.

The contest is free, but only residents of Clallam County or Jefferson County can enter.

And the entrant must be older than 13 years; parents can submit photos taken by their children age 12 and younger.

All entries must be submitted digitally on the web — sorry, no entries by mail or in person.

The deadline for entries is Sunday, Aug. 24, at 11:59 a.m.

Online voting to enable the public to determine the winning photos begins at noon that day.

The contest is sponsored by Peninsula Daily News, Sequim Gazette and Forks Forum.

Dan Willis of Port Townsend, a docent at the Point Wilson Lighthouse at Fort Worden State Park, conducts a tour for interested visitors on Thursday. The lighthouse was built in 1878 when Congress approved $8,000 for the light and foghorns. Although the facility is still an active U.S. Coast Guard station, the equipment is monitored and operated remotely and no keepers are present. Regular tours on Saturdays and Sundays will resume in May. (Steve Mullensky/for Peninsula Daily News)
