PORT TOWNSEND — The Wooden Boat Foundation will host its traditional Bell Toll Ceremony on Facebook Live this Sunday.
At 10 a.m., the public is invited to watch the event honoring mariners and community members lost over the past year.
Port Townsend sailmaker and mariner Carol Hasse will go to the Northwest Maritime Center on Water Street and read the names of those who have crossed the bar; she’ll then ring the bell eight times to mark the end of their watch on this world.
Those who would like to add a loved one’s name to the list to be read during the ceremony are encouraged to email the Northwest Maritime Center’s Len Maranan-Goldstein at len@nwmaritime.org before 6 p.m. today.
The 45th annual Wooden Boat Festival, which would have taken place this weekend, has been canceled due to the pandemic.
