Stolen car recovered; Port Angeles police seeking thief, leads

PORT ANGELES — A car stolen from Ruddell Auto Mall was found last week dirty but undamaged, and police are looking for the person who took it off the dealership’s lot.

Clallam County Deputy Mark Millet found the white 2013 Hyundai Tucson in a business parking lot at 130 Harrison Road in Sequim on Friday, said Sgt. John Hollis of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

The Tucson was stolen from Ruddell Auto Mall last Sunday, Oct. 13, Hollis said, and has been returned to the dealership on South Golf Course Road.

Police have no suspects and are seeking anyone who may have seen the vehicle or people in or around it, said Sgt. Jesse Winfield of the Port Angeles Police Department.

The dealership’s surveillance equipment captured the theft on video.

An unidentified person in a light-colored hoodie was seen walking onto the lot and use a remote keyless fob to enter and start the vehicle, police said.

When taken, the car did not have a license plate.

Before it was found, the stolen car had been reported spotted in Gales Addition and the Carlsborg area with several people in it, Winfield said.

“We believe that there is more than one person who knows about the theft of this car,” he said.

Anyone with information on the stolen vehicle is asked to phone Winfield or Cpl. Tom Kuch at the Port Angeles Police Department at 360-452-4545.
