Running Start information nights scheduled at Peninsula College

Peninsula College will host a series of Running Start information nights in Port Angeles, Port Townsend and Forks this month and in March.

The information nights are designed to provide prospective Running Start students and their parents with an opportunity to learn more about the program and how high school juniors and seniors can earn college credit tuition free.

They also will learn about strategies for success and how parents and families can be supportive.

Students and parents who wish to attend a Running Start information night on the main campus in Port Angeles can do so this Wednesday or Tuesday, March 12.

The information session and a panel discussion will be held in the Keegan Hall Lecture Hall (M-125) starting at 7 p.m.

An optional campus tour will be offered at 6:30 p.m.

The Port Townsend Running Start information night will be held Thursday, March 7, in Room D at the Peninsula College Extension site at Fort Worden State Park, 298 Battery Way, beginning at 6 p.m.

Forks’ information night is set for the Forks Extension site in the Learning Center Room (F-4), 71 S. Forks Ave., at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 14.

For more details on the information nights, phone the college at 360-417-6340 or 877-452-9277, ext. 2.

Information will also be on the college website at www.pencol.edu.

The lighthouse was built in 1878 when Congress approved $8,000 for the light and foghorns. Although the facility is still an active U.S. Coast Guard station, the equipment is monitored and operated remotely and no keepers are present. Regular tours on Saturdays and Sundays will resume in May. (Steve Mullensky/for Peninsula Daily News)
