Bells will ring at 1 p.m. Tuesday in observance of Constitution Week.
The Michael Trebert Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is requesting that North Olympic Peninsula churches, government offices and citizens participate in the national commemoration, called “Bells Across America.”
Constitution Week, which will be from Tuesday through Sept. 23, commemorates the adoption of the U.S. Constitution by the American Congress of the Confederation on Sept. 17, 1787.
Participating in the event so far are St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Port Angeles city’s The Gateway transit center and the Clallam County Courthouse in Port Angeles; and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church; and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sequim.
The chapter is asking churches and private citizens participate in the bell-ringing.
The DAR chapter also has displays out in the area during the week.
