PORT TOWNSEND — A lecture by former Coast Guard Search and Rescue helicopter pilot Jeffrey Hartman has been moved up from Jan. 16 to this Wednesday.
Hartman, a 30-year Coast Guard veteran who is now retired and living in Port Townsend, will speak at a free Wooden Boat Wednesday educational event at the Northwest Maritime Center, 431 Water St., from noon to 1:30 p.m.
The event, previously scheduled for Jan. 16, was moved up a week because of a family emergency.
Those who have signed up for the lecture and can still attend Wednesday do not have to RSVP again.

Hartman, a retired captain who served four tours of duty in Alaska, will share his collection of personal memories and historical slides as he explains the functions the Coast Guard fulfills.
Hartman is the author of Guarding Alaska: A Memoir of Coast Guard Missions on the Last Frontier.
As a Search and Rescue helicopter pilot, he saved more than 100 lives, and his new book weaves together action-packed memories of these rescue missions in the face of snow-blinding storms, glacier ice flows and treacherous waters.
Hartman’s book is available for sale at the Wooden Boat Chandlery inside the Northwest Maritime Center for $19.95.
