Prep sports: Chimacum girls score 50-35 win over Charles Wright

CHIMACUM — After regrouping and overcoming what is becoming a characteristically slow start, the Chimacum girls basketball team pushed away from Charles Wright in the second half for a 50-35 victory.

The Cowboys (7-3, 12-6) trailed 21-20 at halftime before stepping up on defense and outscoring the Tarriers 30-14 in the second half.

“We missed over 20 shots in the paint in this game and were only 7-22 from the free-throw line,” Chimacum coach Jim Eldridge said.

“Our shooting is terrible right now and I think that’s what we will be working on in practice tomorrow.”

Chimacum will have to improve quickly as a date at No. 1 ranked Seattle Christian (8-0, 17-0) awaits on Friday.
