PREP FOOTBALL UPDATE: Neah Bay, Port Townsend close out regular season with blowout wins

CLALLAM BAY — Cole Svec reached the end zone five times and the top-ranked Neah Bay Red Devils routed Clallam Bay 66-0 on Friday night.

Svec ran in three scores and returned two interceptions for touchdowns.

Chris Martinez had two touchdown runs.

Neah Bay (5-0, 9-0) has a week off before opening the state playoffs.

Port Townsend 49, Charles Wright

PORT TOWNSEND — Round one goes to the Redhawks in a unanimous decision.

It’s the next one that matters, though.

Port Townsend (7-2) faces Charles Wright again next Friday, again at Memorial Field, but this time it’s a winner-goes-to-districts, loser-goes-to-the-offseason affair.

Dan Willis of Port Townsend, a docent at the Point Wilson Lighthouse at Fort Worden State Park, conducts a tour for interested visitors on Thursday. The lighthouse was built in 1878 when Congress approved $8,000 for the light and foghorns. Although the facility is still an active U.S. Coast Guard station, the equipment is monitored and operated remotely and no keepers are present. Regular tours on Saturdays and Sundays will resume in May. (Steve Mullensky/for Peninsula Daily News)
