PORT TOWNSEND — A Port Townsend man was taken to a hospital after a single-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 101.
Maxwell O. Doray, 19, was taken to St. Michael’s Medical Center in Silverdale. His condition was not available on Tuesday.
Doray was cited for speeding, no insurance and no seatbelt Monday night after striking a guardrail, crossing the roadway and striking an embankment on U.S. Highway 101 south of Brinnon, according to a State Patrol memo.
He was driving a 1989 Ford Ranger pickup northbound at a high rate of speed shortly before 9 p.m. when the brakes locked and the truck slid into the guardrail on the northbound shoulder, crossed both lanes and struck the rock embankment on the southbound shoulder before coming to rest, the State Patrol said.
The vehicle was destroyed, troopers said.
