Port Angeles, Sequim to host last outdoor concerts of the summer; Old Sidekicks to serve up bluegrass at Wednesday’s Concert on the Pier

THIS WEEK’S SCHEDULE of free outdoor music on the North Olympic Peninsula:

■ PORT ANGELES CONCERT ON THE PIER — Wednesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., City Pier, Old Sidekicks (country and bluegrass).

This is Concert on the Pier’s last band of the summer.

Two other weekly outdoor concert series on the North Olympic Peninsula — Sequim’s Music in the Park on Tuesdays and Port Townsend’s Concerts on the Dock on Thursdays — ended their summer runs last month.

Sponsored by the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce, Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department and local businesses including the Peninsula Daily News, Concert on the Pier’s every-Wednesday performances began this summer on June 24.

City Pier is a kid-friendly, dog-friendly (but no-skateboards, no-smoking, no-alcohol) venue. Dancing is encouraged during the performances

Some chairs are available for the disabled and early arrivals to the concert. There is a snack and beverage vendor.

Concerts move to the roofed Gateway transit center, Lincoln and Front streets, if there’s rain.

“Bubble Man” Greg Bondy provides entertainment for kids at Concert on the Pier with chalk for pavement drawing and a bubble-making machine.

■ SEQUIM CITY BAND — Sunday (Sept. 13), 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., the James Center for the Performing Arts amphitheater in the Sequim Water Reuse Park, 563 N. Rhodefer Road, just north of Carrie Blake Park (concert band tunes, marches, Broadway hits and oldies).

Bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks.

This is the band’s last outdoor concert of the season. Go to www.sequimcityband.org for a schedule of upcoming indoor concerts.
