PORT ANGELES — City police Thursday continued to look for an attempted burglary suspect who got away in south Port Angeles on Wednesday afternoon.
The man is a “very skinny” white male — about 5-foot-9, 115 pounds with dirty brown hair, police said.
He was last seen running into the woods off the 1300 block of Campbell Avenue wearing a stained white T-shirt, khaki shorts and tennis shoes.
Notified agencies
Local, state and federal law enforcement officials have been notified about the search.
“The Olympic Peninsula is a pretty small world, and that guy is pretty distinctive,” Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said.
“My sense is that somebody who is an officer working on the Peninsula has encountered that person before.”
Gray pickup
Police also were looking for a small gray pickup truck, which may have been spray-painted, that was last seen traveling westbound on Campbell Avenue.
Multiple reports of a possible burglary in progress were received at about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The man police are seeking was seen in the backyard of a Campbell Avenue residence and was seen and heard on a front porch.
Police arrived in less than five minutes and deployed a police dog team.
The dog was unable to find the suspect, leading police to believe that he got away in the pickup truck.
