PORT TOWNSEND — Appointments can be made now to consult two new doctors in the Jefferson Healthcare Orthopedic Clinic in September.
On Sept. 2, Drs. Kenneth R. Koskella and Erin P. Moyer of WestSound Orthopaedics PS will begin seeing patients at the orthopedic clinic on the second floor of Jefferson Healthcare hospital at 834 Sheridan St.
Through the partnership with WestSound of Silverdale, the two doctors will join Jefferson Healthcare’s clinic staff, Dr. David King and Kevin Hines, physician assistant-certified.
Open house set
An open house to allow the public to meet the new doctors is set for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Jefferson Healthcare Orthopedic Clinic.
Koskella, who is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, has provided orthopedic services in Kitsap County since 2002 and was instrumental in forming WestSound Orthopaedics in 2005.
He is a general orthopedist with special interests in upper extremity injuries and disorders as well as total joint replacement of the hip and knee.
He graduated from the St. Louis University of Washington School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Oakland Naval Hospital.
He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Two careers
Koskella has a unique history in that he has had two very full careers.
In addition to orthopedic surgery, Koskella served in the Navy as a test pilot.
Now, he flies recreationally on the weekends.
Moyer, a newcomer to Kitsap County, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who began her practice as an active-duty Navy surgeon.
She served the sailors and Marines of Camp Lejeune, both stateside and in combat while deployed to Afghanistan.
Moyer became interested in the field of orthopedics, and sports injuries specifically, at an early age as an All-State Virginia High School basketball standout and a varsity basketball athlete for her four years at Johns Hopkins University.
Her undergraduate studies in biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins fueled her desire to pursue orthopedics as a career.
She went on to focus her career path in orthopedics in both research and studies at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.
Moyer completed her residency training at the State University of New York, Stony Brook.
