NEWS BRIEFS: Port Angeles Coast Guard crew rescues three mariners … and other items

BOULDER ISLAND — A Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles crew hoisted three mariners after their vessel ran aground Saturday near Boulder Island, southeast of Lopez Island.

The three mariners, who were aboard a 46-foot recreational vessel, climbed onto rocks and were safely hoisted and transported to Paine Field, a small international airport in Everett.

No injuries were reported during the incident, according to a Coast Guard press release.

There is no reported fuel spill from the boat, but there is a potential of a maximum spill of 200 gallons of gasoline, according to the Coast Guard.
