PORT ANGELES — The MV Coho ferry was forced to return to Port Angeles after leaving on its 8:15 sailing to Victoria this morning after a man on board complained of heart trouble.
The 63-year-old man, was name was not available, was complaining of heart pain and trouble breathing about 30 minutes after the ferry left its dock on the Port Angeles waterfront, said Rian Anderson, district manager of Black Ball Ferry Line, which owns and operates the Coho.
“We decided to bring him back so he could be attended to,” Anderson said.
Anderson predicted that today’s scheduled sailings at 12:45 p.m., 5:20 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. could leave up to an hour a later, though he said the ferry could shorten that delay as the day progresses.
The man was sitting up and talking as medics from the Port Angeles Fire Department wheeled him off the ferry on a stretcher into a waiting city ambulance.
