FORKS — A Seattle motorcyclist was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after he crossed the centerline on U.S. Highway 101 south of Forks and crashed into a truck Saturday afternoon.
Anthony W. Davis, 54, was listed in satisfactory condition in the Seattle hospital on Sunday afternoon.
He was cited for reckless driving by the State Patrol, which said the cause of the crash was speed too fast for conditions.
Davis was traveling northbound on Highway 101 at milepost 182 in West Jefferson County on a Harley Davidson Fat Boy at 2:31 p.m. Saturday, the State Patrol said in a memo.
While negotiating a curve, Davis crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic, according to the memo.
Dane M. LeBeau, 32, of Minturn, Colo., driving a truck and travel trailer southbound on Highway 101, swerved to the right to avoid the motorcyclist, but Davis struck the right front tire of the truck, the State Patrol said. Davis was thrown from the motorcycle onto the northbound lane, which was blocked by the motorcycle, the State Patrol said. LeBeau’s truck came to rest in the southbound lane.
Neither LeBeau nor his passenger, Nicole M. Tokarski, 31, were injured, troopers said. Both were wearing seatbelts.
Davis was wearing a helmet. The State Patrol did not know if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
All vehicles were impounded with damage.
