OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — The Lake Crescent Lodge, which opened for the season last week, will extend its season until Jan. 1 in recognition of the 75th anniversary of Olympic National Park.
The lodge generally closes for the winter in the fall.
Rainey McKenna, park spokeswoman, said no park-sponsored anniversary events are scheduled this month.
The park has launched a website dedicated to the anniversary at http://tinyurl.com/ONPAnniversary, which will be updated as the June 29 anniversary approaches.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the national park into existence on that day in 1938.
The lodges at Lake Crescent and Lake Quinault are offering a special promotion during the anniversary year, said Paula Beck, director for sales and marketing for Aramark on the Olympic Peninsula.
The “heritage” package — offered in May, June, October, November and December — will allow a guest to stay a total of three nights at either lodge for $399 per two people.
Information on other 75th anniversary events at the lodges as they are scheduled can be found at http://tinyurl.com/75Anniversary.
The Lake Crescent and Lake Quinault lodges, built in 1916 and 1926, respectively, predate the establishment of Olympic National Park.
Both lodges hosted President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1937.
The Lake Quinault Lodge is at 345 S. Shore Road, Quinault, while the Lake Crescent Lodge sits at 416 Lake Crescent Road off U.S. Highway 101, about 18 miles west of Port Angeles.
