Kidd, Williams advance to general election for Port Angeles City Council

PORT ANGELES — Cherie Kidd will face incumbent Larry G. Williams for the Port Angeles City Council Position 2 seat on Nov. 8.

Williams led the three-person field in Tuesday’s primary election with 1,336 votes, or 45.3 percent.

Kidd captured 1,223 votes, or 41.4 percent.

Peter J. Ripley took 392 votes, or 13.3 percent.

The results tallied only ballots cast on or before Friday. On Tuesday night, 5,747 ballots were counted in Clallam County races — just 25 percent of the ballots mailed.

At least 1,372 ballots are outstanding for races in Clallam County, including those collected from ballot-drop boxes at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Those ballots, plus ballots placed in the mail by last Thursday will be counted this Thursday.

Ballots that were mailed Friday through Tuesday will be tabulated Sept. 29 following a meeting of the Canvassing Board.

The board will certify final results on Sept. 30.
